When It Hurts... and Then Stops Hurting
A key piece of information clients never leave my office without hearing is that you can push through any muscle, to the bone, WITHOUT ELICITING ANY PAIN so long as it is the proper length. In other words, if it’s not tight it won’t hurt. The tighter it is the more it will hurt. The reason that this is important is because when the client feels the painful area gradually start to feel better and then to feel pain free they know that there is HOPE. Sometimes within minutes something that was painful enough to elicit groans or tears now feels…good?! “How can that be? I’ve had that pain for years.” Clients are now usually grateful for the relief and angry that they’ve put up with the pain for so long.
